A compact, high-memory machine that holds your memory, runs the routine inference, stores your documents, and keeps the ledger of everything done in your name.
The decision behind it
Every private detail Alfred is useful for — your correspondence, your documents, your relationships, your obligations — is exactly the material you'd least like sitting on a general-purpose cloud account. So the default is inverted: the memory lives with you, and reaching outside is the exception you approve.
The first Core is a compact, high-memory AI workstation rather than custom-designed hardware. That's deliberate: proven components, serviceable parts, no bespoke manufacturing risk before the software has earned it.

Phase two · concept
A capture device that looks like a good pen rather than a gadget: one button to record a meeting, a held press to ask Alfred something, encrypted sync back to your Core. No screen, no notifications, nothing to check.
Concept only. It gets built after the software has real users who genuinely want voice capture — not before.
Capture
Phones, watches and ordinary recorders already cover meeting capture and voice notes. Alfred works with those from day one. Custom hardware is a reward for demand, not a bet placed before it.
That rule applies to the Core too: proven parts first, bespoke industrial design once there are people to build it for.
No payment is taken and nothing is committed. You're holding a place in a small first batch, and you'll be told exactly what's ready before anyone asks you for anything.
